about

I put on pants to record this, but you don't have to put any on to listen.

For your listening "pleasure," you've got two options, but you get both for the price of one:

Option A: the full-length 'concert podcast' version, complete with me giving a little bit of context for most of the songs. It's a single 28-minute track, intended to be listened to as such. That's track 15 here, down at the bottom.

Option B: the 'enough of my yakkin' version, which is all the songs and intros, but separated into tracks (so... like a normal album...) so you can skip the boring parts where I talk, or you can shuffle, or whatever the kids are doing these days. That's everything except track 15.

The download includes both, so you can listen any way you see fit.

YES, the existence of a Volume 1 DOES imply the existence of a Volume 2, very astute of you to notice that. There will indeed be one or more forthcoming, depending on how things go the next few months. Hard to plan in a pandemic, yes? But we'll do something special at the end of the series for anyone who isn't sick of it (myself included) by then.

Gonna dedicate this to all the folks we've lost recently, including John Prine, who sadly has gone off to join a lot of the other folks I also name-checked in "Fault Country," and Adam Schlesinger (Fountains of Wayne, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend), to whom I owe at least as much of a songwriting debt. Give 'em heck up there, gents.

released May 16, 2020

All tracks performed & engineered by Acoustic Ross
All tracks written & arranged by Acoustic Ross
except "Bonnie Claire" & "Kate 23," written by Acoustic Ross and Math Lab, and "Someone Who's Cool" written by Doug Elliott, Pat Steward, Steven Drake

Recorded live at home on May 2, 2020. Mic & line input on the guitar, mic for voice, mixed down in a single pass on the ol' multitrack machine. A few edits but no overdubs, tiny bit of reverb to make it sound professional. Well, semi-professional. Like a minor league hockey goalie who works on the coach's farm in Saskatchewan every summer.
